Medical advice via Radio or Inmarsat

• Via radio on any of the distress or Seaphone Channels
• Via Inmarsat phone by calling short code 32 or 38
• Via Inmarsat-C or A telex to the Brisbane Communications Centre telex 140013

They will immediately be connected to the duty medical officer at the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS). The doctor will advise treatment to be given and also if the case is serious, whether evacuation from the ship should take place. In the case of evacuation, the Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC), Canberra will coordinate the process.
